UAE’s RedBird IMI acquires UK TV producer for $1.5bn

All3Media produces top global shows such as The Traitors, Squid Game: The Challenge, Gold Rush, among others

RedBird IMI, a US investment management company partly owned by Abu Dhabi’s International Media Investments, has acquired All3Media, the UK’s largest independent TV production company behind hits such as Fleabag, The Traitors and Gogglebox.

The for £1.15 billion ($1.5 billion) deal is the largest for RedBird IMI to date, the company said in a statement.

The UK production house was acquired from joint owners, Nasdaq-listed Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. and Liberty Global Limited.

The deal has been approved by US, UK, and German regulators.

Jeff Zucker, CEO of RedBird IMI, will become the chairman of All3Media, while CEO Jane Turton and COO Sara Geater will continue to lead the company.

All3Media, based in London, has 50 production labels, including Studio Lambert, Raw, Two Brothers Pictures, Silverback Films, New Pictures and Neal Street Productions. 

The company produces global hit shows such as Fleabag, The Traitors, Squid Game: The Challenge, Midsomer Murders, American Nightmare, The Circle, Call the Midwife, The Tourist, Life On Our Planet, The Long Shadow, Hollyoaks and Peep Show.

In February, RedBird IMI announced plans to buy All3Media, its fifth investment and largest to date.

RedBird IMI this month confirmed it had backed out of plans to acquire the Telegraph Media Group after the UK government blocked the deal.

The UAE’s IMI owns The National newspaper, Sky News Arabiya and Al-Ain News.
