Qatar has invested more than $30 billion in various projects in the US, the country’s energy minister has said.

Saad Al-Kaabi said that the Doha government’s investment is mostly in the Golden Pass LNG project in Texas, which is 70 percent owned by QatarEnergy and 30 percent by ExxonMobil, CNBC Arabia reported.

US President Donald Trump travelled from Riyadh to Doha on the second day of his visit to the Gulf, with major deals signed.

He will leave for the UAE on Thursday.

Qatar will receive the first shipment of LNG by the end of the year, with the Texas project’s official opening expected in the first quarter of 2026, the minister said.

Last month the Golden Pass won the Trump administration’s approval to extend its starting date permit by three years.

The delayed project will now ramp up development and start production on November 30, 2029, Bloomberg reported.

The terminal was initially planned to import Qatari LNG, but it pivoted to exports as the US became self sufficient in gas.
