The new production line in the Tangier plant is expected to produce up to 120,000 vehicles

French carmaker Renault Group will start production of its first hybrid model, “Dacia Jogger”, at its Tangier plant in northern Morocco in the second quarter of 2024.

The new production line is expected to produce up to 120,000 vehicles, Morocco World News reported.

Morocco’s Trade and Industry Minister, Ryad Mezzour, said the production “opens the way for Morocco’s automotive ecosystem to new areas with high technological value and high impact for Moroccan skills”.

He added the project reinforces Morocco’s industrial ambition to succeed in the transition towards electrification and sustainable mobility.

Dacia’s CEO, Denis Le Vot, said that the manufacturing of the Jogger at the Tangier plant will bring additional expertise and a substantial increase in qualifications for all employees.

In January, Renault Group Morocco said its two factories produced 350,000 vehicles over 2022, a 15.3 percent increase year-on-year.

The Tangier plant reported an 11 percent year-on-year rise to 255,494 vehicles, while the Renault Casablanca plant surged 20 percent year-on-year to 94,524.
