QatarEnergy’s CEO has expressed concerns that crude oil prices below $60 a barrel could hinder investments in the global oil sector. The company continues to focus on supplying its liquefied natural gas primarily to Asia amid competition from the US1.

It aims to more than double its production capacity of plastics raw materials to leverage growth in the chemical industry. It expects its US ethane cracker joint venture with Chevron Phillips Chemical to commence operations in the first quarter of 2027. The North Field East natural gas expansion will begin production in mid-20262.

QatarEnergy’s North Field East project will increase liquefied natural gas production from 77 million metric tons to 126 million metric tons by 2027. The company will start exports from the US once the Golden Pass project is online at the end of 20253.

The company has invested more than $30 billion in the US with significant participation in the Golden Pass liquefied natural gas project. This project, primarily owned by the company, is expected to officially open in early 20264.

It is engaging in negotiations with Japanese firms for a long-term liquefied natural gas supply deal from its North Field expansion. This potential agreement aims to strengthen its presence in Japan, facing stiff competition from other suppliers like the US and Gulf nations5.
