Trade Egypt and Russia increase trade after record 2024 By Pramod Kumar May 12, 2025, 11:34 AM Reuters/Yuri Kochetkov Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomes Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during their meeting in Moscow on May 9 Trade between Russia and Egypt rose sharply in the first two months of 2025 after setting a new record in 2024. “Last year bilateral trade turnover increased by more than 30 percent, reaching $9 billion,” state-run TASS news agency reported quoting Russian president Vladimir Putin speaking at a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Bilateral trade in the first two months of this year rose more than 80 percent, he said. Putin said Egypt is one of Russia’s key partners in Africa, and their cooperation is based on a treaty on comprehensive partnership. The talks were held before the 15th session of the Russian-Egyptian intergovernmental commission, which will take place from May 12-14 in Moscow. The meeting will focus on trade and scientific and technical cooperation, the report said.
