Qatar is becoming a destination for regular cruise calls and cruises with turnaround calls

Qatar Tourism and Mwani Qatar, the state-run port management company, expect more than 50 cruise liners with approximately 200,000 visitors to the Gulf nation from now to the end of April.

Maryam Saoud, head of Tourism Product Support at Qatar Tourism, said they are seeing continued, increasing preference for Qatar as a destination for both regular cruise calls and cruises with turnaround calls.

Hamad Ali Al Ansari, manager of public relations and communications at Mwani Qatar, added: “As part of the renovation work undertaken in Doha Port’s infrastructure, and after further expanding and dredging the navigational channel and port docks to reach deeper depth, we are now able to receive mega cruise vessels.”

In February 2022, Qatar Tourism signed a superyacht luxury cruises partnership with Swiss-based Emerald Cruises, which will launch its sail from Doha in January 2023, The Peninsula newspaper reported.

Established in 2015, the cruise sector has enabled Qatar to offer maritime tourism, leading to economic growth by increasing tourist spending and generating business opportunities.
