Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) aims to add 4,617 new hotel rooms over the next five years, a rise of 56.8 percent, CEO Raki Phillips said.

The emirate currently now has more than 50 hotels, including 10 five-star hotels, nine four-star hotels, seven hotel apartments, and 24 other accredited accommodations, the CEO told state-owned Emirates News Agency (WAM).

This includes 8,130 hotel rooms, and the authority aims to add another 4,617 rooms by 2027, and encourage the construction of several new hotels, including Marriott, Anantara, Westin, Rove and Sofitel hotels, he added.

The emirate is diversifying its hospitality options by establishing accommodation on Jebel Jais, including the Earth Hotels Altitude, a temporary hotel concept that is due to open later this year, as well as the Mantis Group’s “Sage Lodge,” a mountain destination that will offer relaxation, entertainment and guided tours.

Another addition is the Cloud7 Camp Jebel Jais, which will offer guests a luxurious camping experience with 30 accommodation units built from sustainable materials.

The authority plans to inaugurate an integrated project in 2026 on Marjan Island worth billions of dollars, with over 1,000 rooms and retail stores.

Real estate consultancy firm Colliers said this week occupancy levels in Ras Al Khaimah in the second quarter of 2022 increased by 19 percentage points compared to Q2 2021. Average daily rates also increased by four percentage points. The firm also reported that 696 new rooms will be opened in the northern emirate by the end of 2022.
