Tech Damac data centre unit Edgnex signs $2bn Jakarta deal By Pramod Kumar June 17, 2025, 4:17 PM Pexels/Alifia Harina Edgex now plans to create two data centres in Jakarta Edgnex, the data centre subsidiary of Dubai’s Damac Group, plans to develop an artificial intelligence-powered data centre in Jakarta, Indonesia. The data centre will have a projected capacity of 144 megawatts (MW) with a total investment of $2.3 billion, the company said in a statement. Damac completed the land acquisition in March and has started construction. The first phase is expected to be ready by December 2026. Indonesia remains a high-potential market but faces digital infrastructure gaps. The project will help to meet the nation’s growing demand for scalable, energy-efficient infrastructure. “This project is part of our broader push across Southeast Asia, where we have committed over $3 billion in digital infrastructure investments to date,” said Hussain Sajwani, founder of Damac Group. In January, US president Donald Trump and Sajwani, the billionaire chairman of Damac Properties, announced that the emirati will invest “at least” $20 billion in data centres across the US.
