  • Partnered with Crypto.com
  • To run at 10 service stations
  • With plans to expand

Customers at some of Emarat’s service stations across the UAE will soon have the option to pay for their gas and snacks in cryptocurrencies.

Emarat has partnered with UAE crypto trading platform Crypto.com to allow merchants to use cryptocurrencies at their checkouts, the company announced on LinkedIn this week.

Initially, 10 service stations will be covered by the deal.

Emarat runs 155 service stations across the UAE federation.

The two companies have plans to “progressively expand the integration across the Emarat service station network”.

The day-to-day use of cryptocurrencies in the UAE is gathering pace.

Some company employees now have the option to have a portion of their salaries paid in cryptocurrencies, while shoppers in Majid Al Futtaim malls can buy their goods with Bitcoin.
