Uber's acquisition of Trendyol Go is expected to close in the second half of 2025 following regulatory approvals

Uber Technologies will foray into Turkey’s food delivery sector as part of its expansion plans.

The company has agreed to acquire an 85 percent stake in Alibaba-backed Trendyol Group’s Go online meal and grocery delivery business in Turkey for $700 million.

The acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2025 following regulatory approvals, the company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In 2024 Trendyol Go delivered more than 200 million orders and generated $2 billion in gross bookings, an increase of more than 50 percent on the year before.

“Uber and Trendyol Go coming together will elevate the delivery sector in Turkey for consumers, couriers, restaurants and retailers, especially small and family-owned businesses,” Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said.

The Trendyol Go app will operate independently, with Uber adding features from its delivery arm, Uber Eats, in the coming years.

The Trendyol Go platform delivers groceries and meals from over 90,000 restaurants and markets through 19,000 couriers.

Çağlayan Çetin, president of Trendyol Group, said the acquisition of Go reflects the strength of the Turkish technology and ecommerce sectors and the broader economy.

Another American food delivery company, DoorDash, is buying the UK’s Deliveroo for £2.9 billion ($3.85 billion) to compete with Uber Eats in the European market.
