The Yemen project represents 'a significant step towards promoting regional power connectivity' Monenco said Oman has awarded a contract to a local engineering company to conduct a feasibility study for interconnecting its power grid with Yemen. Monenco Consulting Engineers (Oman) won the contract from the state-run Oman Electricity Transmission Company through a tender process, the company said in a statement on its social media platforms. The work scope includes undertaking a feasibility study, offering engineering services, and providing full supervision during implementation up to energisation. The project represents a significant step towards enhancing energy security and promoting regional power connectivity across the Arabian Peninsula and the wider GCC region, the statement said. This week Oman signed a memorandum of understanding with Iran to review a grid interconnection project, the Oman Daily Observer reported. A new 400kV direct transmission line between Oman and the GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) network is currently in the design stage, the newspaper said. The current GCCIA network connects Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE.
