State-backed Oman LNG has signed a three-year pact to supply 0.4 million metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to German headquartered Sefe Secure Energy for Europe (Sefe) from 2026.

The binding term sheet was signed in August 2023, with the formal agreement being signed during the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2024, Sefe said in a statement.

Sefe is the first German company to purchase Omani LNG, the statement added.

“The agreement signifies access to new markets, technological advancements from Germany, and broader economic growth opportunities,” said Hamed Al Naamany, CEO, Oman LNG.

“This partnership diversifies our portfolio and supports our goal to provide Europe with a secure energy supply,” said Dr Egbert Leage, CEO of Sefe.

Oman LNG has a nameplate capacity of 11 million metric tonnes per annum and supplies LNG and natural gas liquids to global customers.

On the other hand, Sefe plays a pivotal role in ensuring energy security in Germany and Europe. It operates in Germany and seven other European markets, securing the energy needs of more than 50,000 customers in industrial and municipal utilities sectors.
