Saudi energy minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said reserves at Jafurah reached 229 trillion cubic feet of gas and 75 billion barrels of condensates

Saudi Aramco has found significant quantities of proven reserves of gas and condensate in the Jafurah unconventional field, said energy minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman.

The additional confirmed quantities reached 15 trillion standard cubic feet of gas and 2 billion barrels of condensate, state-run Saudi News Agency (SPA) reported, citing the minister.

Reserves at Jafurah reached 229 trillion cubic feet of gas and 75 billion barrels of condensates, Prince Abdulaziz said.

A reputed independent consulting company, specialised in authenticating resources and proven reserves, has approved the estimates, he added.

Last month, Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil producer, awarded a $3.3 billion contract to a joint venture between Spain’s Técnicas Reunidas and China’s Sinopec Engineering Group to develop new natural gas liquids fractionation facilities in Saudi Arabia.

Aramco received a directive in January from the energy ministry to maintain its maximum sustainable capacity at 12 million barrels per day (bpd) and not to raise it to 13 million bpd.
