Energy Oman’s OQ says $463m ammonia plant to boost global exports By Pramod Kumar January 16, 2023, 5:55 AM Oman News Agency The new ammonia plant will contribute to achieving added value from its products, which will be exported to international markets Oman’s integrated energy group OQ said its new $463 million ammonia plant in Dhofar governorate will enhance the in-country added value and global exports, state-owned Oman News Agency said. The plant has a production capacity of 1,000 metric tonnes per day of liquid ammonia. The ammonia plant is one of its strategic development projects, said Mulhim bin Bashir Al Jarf, deputy president for investment at Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and board chairman of OQ Group. “It goes in line with the drives of OIA to promote investment in heavy and downstream industries by leveraging the Omani natural resources and increasing its role in increasing their contributions to the gross domestic product.” He stated that the project will contribute to achieving added value from its products, which will be exported to international markets. “This will enhance the position of Omani exports and attract more foreign investments to the economic sectors according to the priorities of Vision 2040,” he added. Talal Al Awfi, CEO of OQ Group, said the plant is another economic asset added to OQ’s investments in Dhofar governorate, which houses three major projects, including the Methanol Plant and Salalah LPG Plant, OQ Ammonia Plant and Raysut Petroleum Products Storage Terminal.
