Ajman reports 11% rise in business licences in Q3

AAl Yasmeen neighbourhood topped the list of the most traded areas in Ajman in 2023

Ajman issued 1,428 licences in the third quarter of 2023, an increase of 11 percent year on year, as business activity reported strong growth, the emirate’s department of economic development said.

Professional licences accounted for the largest share at 51 percent of the total permits, followed by commercial licences (44 percent) and industrial licences (four percent), based on category breakdown, the UAE state-owned Wam news agency reported.

License renewal reported a strong upswing of 11 percent, with renewals increasing by 10 percent for professional licences, 12 percent for commercial licences, and 11 percent for industrial licences.

Licences for the “Taziz” programme for small and medium enterprise (SME) development and “Reyada” licences for practicing home activities grew by nine percent each.

Nationality-wise, Emiratis, Indians and Pakistanis secured the highest number of licences issued during the period.

The business activity results indicate the emirate’s success in attracting new companies and maintaining a sustainable growth rate, Abdullah Ahmed Al Hamrani, director general of Ajman DED, said.
