Turkey’s exports to Middle East rose 16.1% in January 2023

Turkey’s exports to Middle East countries rose 16.1 percent year-on-year in January 2023 to reach $1.43 billion, according to Turkish Exporters Assembly data.

Overall exports in January hit $19.38 billion, a 10.4 percent increase year-on-year, the Daily Sabah newspaper reported, citing the data.

Turkey’s exports to the UAE reached $223.1 million, driven by the jewellery sector, which alone contributed $31.3 million. Exports to Saudi Arabia hit $202.8 million.

The country’s exports touched $671.2 million to Iraq, $191.7 million to Iran, $54.9 million to Qatar, $45.4 million to Kuwait, $27.6 million to Oman and $14.3 million to Bahrain. 

Chemicals and products topped the list, with exports worth $2.3 million to Bahrain and $46.8 million to Iran.

Other top sectors included grains, pulses, oilseeds and products.

In addition, ready-made clothing and apparel exported to Kuwait reached $5.7 million, while the carpet sector saw exports worth $29.3 million to Saudi Arabia.

Istanbul was the top exporter to the Gulf countries last month, with exports totaling $522.6 million, the newspaper said.
