Oman Oil Marketing Company Overview

Oman Oil Marketing Company is a publicly listed joint stock company that markets and distributes petroleum products. It is a subsidiary of Oman Oil Company (OQ).

It in 2003 when OQ acquired shares in what was formally British Petroleum Oman. OQ owns 49 percent of Oman Oil Marketing Company’s shares, with the rest divided among government authorities, pension funds, shareholders and individuals.

Oman Oil Marketing Company operates in sectors including fuel retailing, direct (bulk) fuel sales to government and commercial sectors, lubricant marketing, aviation refuelling, storage and distribution.

It operates a network of more than 200 service stations, including about 30 locations in Saudi Arabia and 12 in Tanzania. In total it serves about 200,000 motorists daily.

In 2018 Oman Oil Marketing Company introduced app-based e-payment at its service stations, in partnership with Thawani Technologies.

The same year, it began to use solar energy to generate electricity at some of its service stations, and launched a solar initiative in partnership with Nafath Renewable Energy.
