Getir

Getir Overview

Getir is a Turkish food delivery company for consumers and restaurants, accessed via a mobile app.

Founded in 2015, Getir expanded quickly. The company doubled its orders in the second half of 2019 to reach almost 1.5 million. It generated $120 million from sales in 2019 and, along with other rapid delivery services, it flourished during the Covid 19 pandemic.

In March 2022, Getir – which means “bring” in Turkish – announced that it had raised $768 million in its Series E funding round, valuing the company at nearly $12 billion.

A further round the following year valued the company at a quarter of that figure.

As demand declined, Getir exited the French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese markets in 2023, and announced in April 2024 that it would cease operations in the UK, the US, Germany and the Netherlands. Closure of all Getir’s operations outside of Turkey was completed in May 2024.

In September 2024 Getir was bought by the UAE’s Mubadala Investment Company.
