Baladna

Baladna Overview

Baladna is Qatar’s largest locally owned dairy producer, supplying over 95 percent of the country’s dairy products.

Baladna was established in 2017 by Syrian-Qatari businessman Moutaz Al-Khayyat and CEO of Qatari conglomerate Power International Holding Ramez Al-Khayyat.

The company initially operated as a sheep and goat farm, but began producing dairy products during that year’s suspension of diplomatic ties between a number of Gulf countries and Qatar.

Today the company owns more than 20,000 cows on the Baladna Farm north of Doha that spans more than 2 million square metres, supplying hundreds of thousands of litres of milk every day. It also produces fruit juice, yoghurt, cheese, labneh, laban and cream.

Baladna bloated on the Qatar Exchange in 2019, and also began exporting milk that year to a number of countries including Yemen and Afghanistan.

Over the following years its export market grew to at least 11 countries including Pakistan and Libya.

In 2024 Baladna signed an agreement to build what was claimed to be the world’s largest integrated dairy farm in southern Algeria.
