Bahrain Development Bank Overview

Established by the Bahraini government to promote investments in the country, the Bahrain Development Bank offers financial services including business finance, Islamic financing and Tamkeen finance, for small and medium businesses.

Bahrain Development Bank runs the Al Waha Fund of Funds and recent initiatives include the HP Spring Studios fintech venture studio in Manama that aims to invest in and nurture the next generation of financial entrepreneurs across the Middle East.

It also funded the renovation of Sitra mall and launched the Imagine Cup Competition in collaboration with Microsoft to support entrepreneurs and creators to establish solutions to resolve some of the world’s toughest challenges.

As well as supporting local businesses, Bahrain Development Bank also aims to promote international growth. In 2014, for example, it signed an agreement with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) for technical assistance in risk and credit management.

In 2024 the bank signed a strategic agreement with Lumofy, an AI-powered talent management platform, to enhance employee upskilling and professional growth.
