First phase of Sitra Mall revamp ‘ready by September’

Renovation works at Sitra Mall Amana
The first phase of the project to revamp the mall's entrance is 50 percent complete

The first phase of the renovation of Sitra Mall in Bahrain is 50 percent complete and scheduled to be finished by September this year.

The $12 million, three-stage redevelopment of the mall, a subsidiary of Bahrain Development Bank, is set for completion in 2024.

The mall, located on Sitra island south of Manama, is managed by Amana, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah).

The first phase of the renovation comprises a new mall entrance and facade enhancement. The new frontage will have updated lighting and signage, as well as new exterior cladding and glazing designed to increase footfall.

The project also includes refurbishment of Sitra Mall’s air conditioning and lighting systems as well as flooring replacement in its main corridors.

Six new retail and four food and beverage outlets will expand the site’s shopping and dining offerings, including two new drive-thru restaurants leased to McDonald’s and Costa Coffee.

The burger giant’s drive-thru is already open and the coffee chain will begin serving customers this month.

In addition, consultation is ongoing with the Ministry of Works, which will manage the enhancement of the roads surrounding the mall.

Earlier this year, the ministry tendered the road enhancement package, which is expected to be awarded and completed with the delivery of the mall’s first renovation phase.
