Qatari port operator QTerminals Group has acquired Kramer Group’s majority stake in the Netherlands’ Port of Rotterdam.

The Port of Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe and is a significant addition to QTerminals Group’s plan to diversify its operations.

QTerminals is 51 percent owned by Qatar Ports Management Company and 49 percent by Qatar Navigation.

The value of the deal was not given.

“Kramer Group is an important strategic step as we expand our presence into Europe’s largest port,” said QTerminals CEO Neville Bissett.

Kramer Group increases the port’s activities, offering direct access to the deep-sea terminals of the Port of Rotterdam.

“Following our assessment of the current organisation, we will retain Kramer’s key management personnel and employees into Qterminals,” said Bissett.

He added that André Kramer will continue as CEO of Kramer Group.
