Energy Oman signs deal with Petrofac to develop green hydrogen By Pramod Kumar September 15, 2022, 4:46 AM Petrofac The three newly awarded contracts will be delivered in-country utilising Petrofac’s engineering and project execution office in Muscat UK-based energy services provider Petrofac has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Oman Hydrogen Centre to collaborate in developing capabilities for Oman’s renewable energy sector, particularly in green hydrogen. Located at the German University of Technology, the centre will accelerate the Gulf state’s transition to renewable energy. It will also be an international hub for research, technology, education, industry applications and economy, aligned with Oman Vision 2040. Petrofac has been supporting new energy projects across a wide range of technologies and has recently completed front-end engineering design (FEED) for large-scale green hydrogen production facilities, as well as numerous studies for small-scale industrial users worldwide. The company will provide technical expertise in designing, managing and executing complex projects and building capacity through knowledge transfer. Dr Khalid Al Jahwari, Petrofac’s country manager – Oman, said that green hydrogen will help accelerate the energy transition in the country via the decarbonisation of many industries.
