State-owned Oman LNG has signed an agreement to deliver one million metric tonnes per annum of LNG to British oil and gas major BP.

Starting in 2026, the LNG will be delivered to BP for nine years, the state-run Oman News Agency reported.

Hamed Al Naamany, CEO of Oman LNG, said that the expected revenues will support the national economy and energy transition.

BP has been in Oman since 2007 and is a major investor within the country.

The London-based company operates Block 61 and holds a 40 percent interest. Makarim Gas Development Limited ‎‎(OQ) has a 30 percent stake, Thailand’s PTTEP (20 percent) and PC Oman Ventures Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Petronas, ‎owns 10 percent.

Gas from Block 61 is allocated for domestic consumption via Oman’s national gas grid and boosts feedstock supply availability for Oman LNG.

Oman LNG in October signed agreements to extend supplies to shareholders, including Shell and TotalEnergies, for up to 10 years beyond 2024, Oman News Agency reported.
