Freight movement at Muscat airport moved up 0.4 percent annually to 12,961 tonnes. The number of passengers at Salalah Airport increased 16 percent to 112,261 in December 2023 compared to 97,195 in December 2022. Aircraft movement grew 11 percent year on year to 1,010, while freight increased 50 percent annually to 87 tonnes. Carriers in the Middle East saw an 18.6 percent increase year on year in passenger traffic, while capacity jumped 19 percent annually in November 2023, the International Air Transport Association (Iata) said this month. The global trade body said international air travel remained 5.5 percent below pre-pandemic levels in November. “But the gap is rapidly closing. And domestic markets have been above their pre-pandemic levels continuously since April,“ said Iata’s director general Willie Walsh.
