Abu Dhabi-listed Burjeel Holdings has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a joint venture with Leejam Sports Company, the owner and operator of fitness centres in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The equally-owned venture will be operated through a newly formed company established under Saudi regulations, Burjeel said in a statement.

The two firms will jointly establish and operate a network of more than 60 centres in Leejam clubs across the kingdom.

With a focus on sports medicine and advanced rehabilitation treatments, the centres will offer physiotherapy, restoration and wellness services, including vitamin infusion, oxychambers, cryotherapy and complementary medicine services.

Plans include opening six centres in the next quarter in Riyadh, before expanding services across the Leejam network in the kingdom over the next 12-18 months.

Burjeel Holdings is also in advanced discussions to operate and maintain several hospital assets in the kingdom, as well as looking at separate potential partnerships to deliver niche, specialised medical care.
