Building permits up 43% from last year in Qatar

New building permits (residential and non-residential) accounted for 43 percent of the total building permits issued in August.

Qatar recorded a 43 percent year-on-year increase in the number of building permits issued by various municipalities in August 2022, reaching 784 licenses, the state-owned Qatar News Agency reported, citing the Planning and Statistics Authority.

New building permits (residential and non-residential) accounted for 43 percent, or 337 licenses, of the total building permits issued last month.

Construction permits accounted for 55 percent, or 430 licenses.

Villa licenses topped the list of new residential buildings, accounting for 86 percent of the total permits of new residential buildings, followed by apartment buildings with nine percent of total permits (23 licenses).

Commercial buildings came at the forefront of new non-residential building licenses with 56 percent, or 50 licenses, followed by industrial buildings (workshops and factories) with 18 percent of total permits (16 licenses), the report said.
