Egypt’s cement industry has an annual output of 92 million tonnes, which ranks it among the top 10 cement producers globally, according to Egyptian trade and industry minister Ahmed Samir.

Egypt’s cement exports surged 22 percent to $625 million in the first nine months of 2023, compared to $512 million a year ago, Egypt Today newspaper.

The industrial sector contributes 17 percent to the country’s GDP and employs nearly 15 percent of the regular workforce, the news daily reported, citing the minister’s speech at a trade exhibition in Cairo.

He affirmed that the government will provide incentives to local and regional manufacturers, creating a supportive industrial environment and promoting the private sector’s pivotal role.
