Under a partnership agreement with Dubai authorities, a network of tunnels will be constructed under the city. Known as the Dubai Loop, the road system is intended to alleviate to some extent the increasing traffic issues facing the emirate and would be similar to the Las Vegas Convention Center Loop, which has been operational since 2021. The Loop serves the Las Vegas Convention Center and uses Tesla Model 3 cars to shuttle passengers between five stations. Speaking via video link at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, alongside UAE minister of state for artificial intelligence Omar Sultan Al Olama, Musk said the project would cover the city’s “most densely populated areas for people to go from point to point in a seamless manner”. No timelines were given for the Dubai Loop, nor were further details on potential costs or exact locations for the proposed tunnel network revealed. Grok 3 is being developed by Musk’s venture xAI, which has attracted funding from regional investors including Saudi Arabia’s Kingdom Holding, the Qatar Investment Authority and the Oman Investment Authority.
