The revenue of Oman’s 3 to 5-star hotels rose 6 percent year on year to OMR243.4 million ($633 million) by the end of December 2024, official data shows.

Hotel guest numbers increased by 4 percent to 2 million by the end of December, the Oman Daily Observer reported citing data from the state-run National Centre for Statistics and Information.

Room booking by Omanis grew 4.5 percent annually to 804,000, while GCC nationals accounted for 199,000. European hotel arrivals rose 4 percent annually to 539,000.

As part of its Vision 2040 project, the sultanate is aiming to build its tourism industry over the next 16 years to attract 11 million visitors annually – more than double current numbers. Analysts have said that this is ambitious but achievable

Oman announced at the International Tourism Exchange 2024 in Berlin that it plans to invest $31 billion until 2040 in tourism.

This includes spending on infrastructure, attractions and services to natural sites, as well as hotels and lodges.
