Hotel room inventory in Dubai beats major global peer cities such as New York, Bangkok, Paris and Singapore Dubai received nearly 19 million international overnight visitors in 2024, a 9 percent increase from the previous year, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). Partnerships, campaigns, and the hosting of events led to the rise in numbers to 18.7 million, state-run WAM news agency reported. The hotel sector consisted of 154,016 rooms across 832 establishments by the end of December, up from 150,291 rooms in 821 establishments in 2023, the agency said. Dubai’s hotel room inventory is larger than cities such as New York, Bangkok, Paris and Singapore, and is nearly on par with London, according to data from STR, a UK-based consultancy. France is the largest recipient of tourists globally, receiving about 100 million visitors, according to the UN’s World Tourism Monitor, followed by Spain and the US. The average daily rate was AED538 ($147) last year, only slightly higher than AED536 in 2023. Revenue per available room reached AED421 in 2024, a 2 percent increase from AED415 a year ago, the agency said.
