State-owned National Ports Agency issued a tender last week, inviting bids from shipyard operators to develop, equip and operate the 52-acre facility for 30 years, Bloomberg reported citing communications director Abdellatif Lhouaoui. Morocco spent $300 million to build the shipyard to capture demand from southern Europe and serve African ships heading to Europe. The new facility has a 244 metre long and 40 metre wide dry dock and a vertical ship lift that can carry up to 9,000 tonnes.
