Abu Dhabi’s AD Ports Group has won a contract to manage and operate a new customs centre in Amman, Jordan, the company said in a statement.

The company aims to increase cross-border trade, reduce clearance times, and enhance supply chain efficiency at the 1.3 million sq m Al Madouneh Customs Centre, which opened last June.

The facility houses automated inspection ramps, smart warehouses and predictive analytics for faster cargo processing.

The group’s partnership with Jordan Customs aims to deliver a 20 percent reduction in clearance times, better cargo security, and infrastructure capable of handling around 1,000 trucks in the import and transit yard.

The financial details of the contract were not released.

The Abu Dhabi-listed company, in which ADQ, a sovereign wealth fund has a stake, operates the Aqaba Cruise Terminal and is developing the first phase of Marsa Zayed beachfront project in Aqaba in cooperation with MAG Group, a private UAE company.

AD Ports stock is down more than 3 percent since the beginning of the year.

In January 2024, AD Ports said its digital arm, Maqta Technologies, and Aqaba Development Corporation signed a pact to implement a port community system for the Port of Aqaba.

Trade volume between UAE and Jordan reached AED 15.4 billion in 2023, doubling over the last decade, according to the UAE Ministry of Economy.
