The company has signed multi-year leasing deals for two Boeing 747 freighters, which have raised Emirates’ cargo capacity by 15 percent, the airline said in a statement. Emirates SkyCargo transported almost 1.2 million tonnes in the first six months of the 2024-25 financial year, up 16 percent compared with the same period last year. Cargo yields were up 11 percent over that period, the airline said. The Emirates SkyCargo active operating fleet now consists of 10 Boeing 777Fs and six Boeing 747s on short-term leases. Potential future additions include the Boeing 777-8F and Airbus A350-1000F. The extra two aircraft have allowed Emirates to expand its freight network to 38 destinations with a new weekly freighter to the Danish capital Copenhagen. “We anticipate that demand will continue to boom,” said Badr Abbas, divisional senior vice president at Emirates SkyCargo.
