Americana Restaurants, the largest food service business in the Mena region, has acquired the Pizza Hut brand in Oman from the Khimji Ramdas Group.

The restaurant operator said the acquisition includes 46 Pizza Hut restaurants which had an annual revenue of approximately $11 million in 2024.

The additional outlets increase its Pizza Hut restaurants across multiple markets in the region to around 450.

Americana said the acquisition supports its strategy to expand its regional footprint and strengthen its presence in existing markets.

Americana has operated the KFC and Hardee’s brands in Oman since 1986.

Omani conglomerate Khimji Ramdas said the sale of the franchise is part of its consolidation strategy, which is to focus on its core businesses.

“This marks a new chapter for the [Pizza Hut] brand in Oman, ensuring it continues to thrive under the leadership of one of the region’s most experienced food and beverage operators,” said Nailesh Khimji, director, Khimji Ramdas.

Established in 1870, Khimji Ramdas Group operates across consumer products, infrastructure, lifestyle and logistics sectors.

Americana, which is the main franchise owner for KFC, Pizza Hut, Krispy Kreme and Hardee’s in the region, has almost 2,500 outlets across the Middle East, North Africa and Kazakhstan.

It announced a 54 percent drop in profit in the third quarter to $37.4 million, as the boycott of US brands over perceived support for Israel continues to impact operations in the region.

CEO Amarpal Sandhu said in November it is not predicting a “hockey stick recovery” – a sudden and sharp upswing – but does not expect results to deteriorate further.

Americana has dual listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) and Saudi Exchange since 2022. Its share price on ADX has risen by just over 9 percent in the year to date.
