Company Insights Royal Jordanian Aviation Royal Jordanian Overview Royal Jordanian Airlines is the national carrier of Jordan. Headquartered in Amman, it was established in 1963 by a group of private shareholders and then later taken over by the government. Operating from the capital’s Queen Alia International Airport, Royal Jordanian serves about 50 destinations, operating more than 500 flights a week. Initially the airline flew to Beirut, Kuwait and Cairo, followed by Jeddah. By 2007 Royal Jordanian had joined the Oneworld global alliance, the 15 airline group in which the likes of Qantas, British Airways, American Airlines, Iberia and Qatar Airways are members. In common with many of its global counterparts, Royal Jordanian’s revenues were hit particularly hard during the pandemic. It experienced substantial losses between 2020 and 2022, reducing them in 2023 as it looked to get back into profitability, but has since been affected by the tensions in the Middle East. The airline operates a two-class (economy and crown class) service on board its fleet of Boeing, Embraer and Airbus jets.
