Company Insights Gulf Hotels Group Tourism Gulf Hotels Group Overview Gulf Hotels Group was incorporated in 1967 under the name of Bahrain Hotels Company. It aimed to improve the standard of hospitality in Bahrain and opened the Gulf Hotel, the country’s first five-star hotel, five years later. In 1975 it acquired the beverage distribution company Vinsales, which has been since renamed as Gulf Brands International. In 1997, the 2,200-seat Gulf Convention Centre launched, next to the Gulf Hotel. The company’s Gulf Hotel Laundry Services supplies more than 30 hotels, restaurants and airlines, and launders more than a million pieces each month. Gulf Hotels Group has also expanded outside of Bahrain, opening the Ocean Paradise Resort in Zanzibar in 2004 and its first Dubai hotel, the Gulf Court Hotel Business Bay, in 2018. In 2023 Gulf Hotels Group established an office in Riyadh to accelerate its expansion in Saudi Arabia. The same year it bought Novotel Bahrain Al Dana Resort, with plans for complete refurbishment.
