Company Insights Emsteel Industry Emsteel Overview Abu Dhabi’s Emsteel – formerly Emirates Steel Arkan – is the UAE’s largest steel and building materials manufacturer. It was founded in 1998 under Senaat, the Abu Dhabi government’s general holding company, as part of the emirate’s aims to diversify its economy. Emsteel produces steel products such as rebar and billets, as well as cement and concrete. Emsteel alone accounts for 11 percent of Abu Dhabi’s manufacturing output and 60 percent of the UAE’s steel production. It has annual capacity for 3.5 million tonnes of steel and 4.6 million tonnes of cement. Emsteel’s products have been used in well-known UAE destinations such as Burj Khalifa and Yas Island, and it says it has also served customers in more than 70 countries worldwide.
