Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company Overview

The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company – Egas – is an Egyptian state-owned holding company.

Egas owns and manages stakes in various gas projects and is responsible for issuing natural gas exploration licences in Egypt. It claims to connect 64 million Egyptian citizens to natural gas, which was first discovered in the country in the late 1960s.

The company’s activities include prospecting, drilling, exploration and production development of natural gas.

It also processes, transports and manages distribution in Egypt’s domestic market, as well as providing the associated marketing and managing facilities.

In 2024 Egas launched a subsidiary in Saudi Arabia called Modern Gas. Other subsidiaries include Egyptian General Petroleum and Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company.
