Americana Restaurants

Americana Restaurants Overview

Americana Restaurants is the largest integrated food company in the Middle East and North Africa, operating more than 2,500 restaurants across 12 countries.

Founded in Kuwait in 1964, Americana introduced the region’s first quick-service restaurant and has since expanded its portfolio to include iconic global brands like KFC, Pizza Hut, Costa Coffee, Hardee’s, TGI Friday’s and Krispy Kreme.

Now based in Sharjah in the UAE, Americana operates in many countries including Egypt, Morocco, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kazakhstan, with plans to enter Iran.

In 2016 Americana was acquired by Adeptio, owned by Emaar Properties founder Mohammed Alabbar. PIF bought a 50 percent stake in Adeptio later that year and the company was then delisted from the Kuwait stock exchange in 2017, valued at $3.5 billion.

Then in 2022 Americana went pubic again in a $1.8 billion IPO, followed by a dual listing on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) and the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul).
