Data from the airport’s operator Airport International Group (AIG) showed that QAIA received 784,992 passengers last month, a 13 percent year-on-year increase. Aircraft movements grew 5 percent year on year to 6,061 flights, but air freight traffic fell by 23 percent to 4,940 tonnes. “Passenger traffic at the airport continues to recover strongly, driven by recent regional developments and the upcoming year-end holiday season,” said AIG CEO Nicolas Deviller. Aircraft movement fell 6 percent year on year to 73,370 but cargo handling rose 12 percent year on year to 75,450 tonnes. Last year Jordan granted AIG a seven-year extension of its build-operate-transfer concession agreement until 2039.
