The airline says all of its Boeing 777s will have the service within a year. On-board access to Starlink-enabled internet will be completely free of charge, Qatar Airways said. In a video call with Qatar Airways executives, Elon Musk, CEO of Starlink operator SpaceX, said: “Over time you’ll find it just gets better and better. This is the minimum and it only gets better from here.” The first of the Starlink-equipped flights was from Doha to London on October 22. Starlink is an internet service that operates anywhere in the world. The airline is set to exceed its initial target of three Starlink-equipped aircraft by introducing 12 Boeing 777-300s upgraded with the service by the end of 2024. It has further committed to rolling out the technology on all 64 of its Boeing 777s within a year, and across its 58 Airbus A350s in the summer of 2025. Qatar Airways’ Group CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer called the agreement a “milestone” and said the company was committed to “rapidly roll out Starlink across our entire modern fleet”. The Starlink-equipped aircraft will operate on selected routes.
