Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health is planning to approve 100 projects in cooperation with the private sector over the next five years, the state-owned Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, citing health minister Fahad Al-Jalajel.

These projects will be worth around SAR 48 billion ($12.7 billion), he said, adding it includes the establishment of two medical cities, along with providing 900 beds for medical rehabilitation and long-term services.

The initiative will include renovating, improving, and restructuring primary health services in the kingdom, with plans for 200 centres in the initial phase.

The minister pointed out that the ministry has developed the procedures for issuing licenses and related regulations to support these new projects.

The ministry has established a call centre to provide services to the business sector, Al-Jalajel stated, adding the aim is to localise the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.
