Saudi crown prince will not attend Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral

The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia has confirmed that Prince Mohammed was travelling to London but did not disclose the details of his visit. 

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is not expected to attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral on Monday, Reuters reported, citing a source at the British foreign office.

The Gulf state will be represented by Prince Turki bin Mohammed al Saud, the source added.

Prince Turki is a minister of state and a member of the cabinet since 2018.

Royals and leaders from the Middle East and North Africa, such as Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Morocco’s Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al-Said and Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani are expected to attend the funeral, according to a Reuters report.

Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Morocco Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, Egypt Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Israel President Isaac Herzog, and Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh will also be present.
