Qatar Central Bank has issued the first digital payment services licence to Ooredoo Money and iPay by Vodafone Qatar, the bank said in a tweet.

This is an initial step to including all companies providing digital payment services under the central bank’s supervision.

Last week, the bank launched the mobile payment service Google Pay, reiterating that all global digital wallet services for cards such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay are now accepted in Qatar.

The move will enable visitors, especially during the World Cup, to process and complete their digital payments.
