Transport Mawani to build new $130m logistics park in Jeddah By Pramod Kumar November 19, 2023 SPA The new logistics park will offer solutions and services, including an export centre, storage and sorting services and smart warehouses Saudi Ports Authority, known as Mawani, and CMA CGM, a French shipping and logistics company, have commenced building work on a new logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port. The new facility, covering an area of more than 130,000 sq m, will be built at the cost of SAR487 million ($129.85 million), the state-run Saudi Press Agency reported. Mawani president Omar Hariri said the new logistics park supports developing a sustainable maritime transport system. The logistics park will offer solutions and services, including an export centre, storage and sorting services, smart warehouses, refrigerated storage services and multimodal transport services. CMA CGM Group’s regional director Jesper Stenbak stated that the new facility will help the growth of the shipping network and improve the quality and efficiency of services provided to local and international customers across the kingdom. Hariri added that Mawani will establish specialised logistics parks inside and outside the ports, reinforcing the kingdom’s position as a global logistics centre and a hub connecting three continents. Mawani, and Saudi Global Ports, a Public Investment Fund-backed container terminal operator, in October signed a contract to build a SAR1 billion logistics park at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. Mawani has signed several agreements to establish 11 logistics zones in the Jeddah Islamic Port, King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu. The total investment for these projects is nearing SAR4.2 billion.
